As a recent graduate, I’m still unsure of what I want to do for the next 40 years of my life. I still can’t believe how young our society forces people to dictate the rest of their life at such a young age. Picking what you want to do forever with a major when you’re 20 is unrealistic in my opinion.

My internship with Envoy has been every bit as rewarding as it has been educational. I’ve learned about the industry I’m pursuing, and more importantly, the kind of company I want to work with for the next 40 years. Do you notice how I say work with and not work for? That’s because, at Envoy, it’s a team effort and everyone here cares about the work they are doing. Not only are the people here talented, but also almost every week I got to enjoy puppy kisses from overly friendly dogs. One of my favorite things about this internship is that I didn’t feel like an “intern” (besides the occasional Target run, but I’m obsessed with Target so that was actually enjoyable).

Working on diverse accounts and seeing how they implement different strategies for different industries was by far one of the coolest things I got to observe (and absorb). I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better place to intern. Learning how an agency works has helped me realize that this is what I want to do for the next 40-plus years of my life because it doesn’t feel like a job.

While working at Envoy, I also worked at Marriott as a Senior Sales Coordinator full time from 6 a.m.to 2 p.m. Having the opportunity to be involved in the planning of a nonprofit event as successful as the Ultra Chic Boutique made the 55-hour workweeks worth it. I’m grateful for my time at Envoy and look forward to what the future holds.
