The Opportunity: Increasing connection with donations

Unless you have a gravely ill child, it’s hard to illustrate what the families at the Omaha Ronald McDonald House are encountering. These families are in need of a place to stay while their child is receiving medical care. While the costs of operating the house are substantial, no family is turned away for inability to pay. Envoy suggested a documentary video to increase awareness and donations at the annual Cultivation Lunch. By drawing an emotional connection to one family’s experiences, the video would teach everyone about a house that provides so much more than just a place to sleep.

The Operation: Creating an emotional journey

The project took seven months to complete and forever changed the lives of everyone involved in its production. The video tells the story of a mother and her brave son who traveled from Colorado looking for a miracle. It’s the story of how the Ronald McDonald House was there to help.

Worth every bit of it

Envoy's video was introduced at the Cultivation Lunch where the event's donation reached $105,520. After its release in the fall of 2008, Ronald McDonald House donations doubled from the previous year. In addition, the average individual donation was $705, compared to $256 in 2007.
