Maybe it was the "flash mob" with Jason and Joe from Talent Anarchy getting us on our feet and dancing at 8 am, maybe it was being inspired by 1,000+ young professionals ready to take on the world or maybe it was networking with business and community leaders.... all in all, Leap Day 2012 was an incredible day!
The Greater Omaha Young Professionals is comprised of the next generation’s leaders 40-years-old and under who want to impact the community and work together to contribute to our city’s growth. The Young Professionals Summit is hosted each year at the Century-Link Center in order for these young professionals to expand their networks, learn from speakers and share their thoughts.
How do we grow a powerful network to enhance our personal and professional success? Joe Gerstandt and Jason Lauritsen from Talent Anarchy introduced us to “The Six Laws of Social Gravity”:
- Be open to connections
- Get involved in meaningful activity
- Always be authentic
- Stay in touch
- Use karma to your advantage
- Invest in connecting
Simply, be architects of the future.
Each of their laws linked into the following sessions I attended throughout the day: leadership, social media and personal branding. All of these also come down to the connections that we make in the city that we love. Omaha is full of new opportunities, exciting events and ways to make a difference.
If you want to know more about the young professionals in Omaha, just look around, we will be everywhere making connections and bragging about our amazing city!
