Attend the Feel-Good Event of the Year

The Max I. Walker Ultra Chic Prom Boutique is an all around feel-good program with an engaging event. For the past three years, it’s been a movement that begins each fall, when the community is asked to donate gently worn prom dresses and formal wear. There is an overwhelming sense of relief at all 20 Max I. Walker retail locations as people bring in dresses they’ve been holding on to for years (and years and years).

For many, it’s just the opportunity they’ve been looking for. They know they’ll never wear that dress again. People leave the stores feeling good about donating to a charitable cause and having cleaned out their closets.

Every February, Max I. Walker hosts the Ultra Chic Prom Boutique event. The hundreds of dresses collected are now cleaned, pressed, mended and sold for only $20 each. The community is invited to come and shop this event with their family and friends to find prom dresses at greatly reduced costs. Local prom-related vendors help make the event even more exciting by handing out coupons and prizes to assist girls as they get ready for prom. Moms, daughters and all shoppers feel good about getting a like-new dress for prom for just $20.

But that money doesn’t profit Max I. Walker or any of the vendors. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the Ultra Chic Prom Boutique goes directly to support the Omaha Lydia House — a branch of the Open Door Mission. Employees and volunteers of the Open Door Mission feel so great about the donation that they are always present on event day to help girls shop for the perfect prom dress.

In just two years, Max I. Walker’s Ultra Chic Prom Boutique has raised more than $10,000 to benefit Lydia House. Join Max and Envoy at the 2010 Ultra Chic Prom Boutique on Feb. 27 at the Holiday Inn Convention Center, 72nd and Grover streets in Omaha, to help make this year even bigger and better! The boutique is open from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Here's how to invite your friends and family to shop.

  • @todder4news We grammarians can’t try to halt things like 4get, 2moro, bcuz, etc. Character limits bred these, and they aren’t going away.
